Cathy Cole

Cathy is an Annapolis artist who enjoys painting local scenery and loves painting animals. She’s been painting since she was a young girl. Capturing each pet’s unique personality in oil paint is so fun and rewarding. She was featured in an article about pet portrait painters in the Capital Gazette in 2019.
Some of her work can be seen on her website at

Stacey Cole

Stacey Cole recently started painting to reduce stress, and fortunately, she discovered her hidden talent. She paints beautiful pet portraits, Annapolis scenes, and other inspiring images on smooth stones (“Just a Rock”). Her rock paintings are done with acrylic paint and paint pens, then coated with a UV protection spray and resin, so they are weather resistant.  She is happy to do custom work of your animal, home, or any other image. Stacey has lived in the Annapolis area her entire life. She has been a nurse for 30 years – practicing the last 17 years as a labor and delivery nurse. While painting is a relatively new passion, she continues to practice nursing full time in an educator’s role.

Paula Jean Houpt

Paula Jean is the founder and lead artist at Becoming Art LLC. She has been creating beautiful works of art for over 50 years and loves the challenge of bringing something unique to everything she works on. She specializes in pastel painting, face/body art, and custom creations of all kinds.

Paula Jean travels throughout the year between Florida and Maryland where she enjoys spending time with her four daughters and her two grandchildren. She has been a pet owner most of her life and enjoys bringing life to her commissioned pet portraits.

Jiayi Lu-LaLiberte (Lulu)

She has done hundreds of custom pet portraits over the past six months both digitally and in watercolor, and is always happy to do more custom pet portraits.
